This week, Estonian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Jaap Ora presented his credentials to Dünýägözel Gulmanowa, Speaker of Turkmenistan’s Parliament.
In the conversation following the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Ora affirmed Estonia’s readiness to boost excellent and friendly relations with Turkmenistan. Digital services, transport and logistics have the greatest potential. Political dialogue between the two countries is equally important.
“Central Asia is an important region for Estonia; Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries have a crucial role in ensuring peace, stability and prosperity,” Ambassador Ora said. In the conversation, the ambassador also raised the importance of a just peace in Ukraine.
Ora joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000. Between 2000 and 2002 and from 2005 to 2007, he worked as the Second Secretary and Division Director at the Policy Planning Department of the Foreign Ministry. Between 2007 and 2011, he was the Director of the Western Europe and North America Division at the Political Department. From 2002 to 2005, he was a political diplomat at the Estonian Embassy in London, from 2011 to 2014, he was a political adviser at Estonia’s Permanent Representation to NATO and from 2014 to 2015, he was the Head of the Foreign Ministry’s representation in Baku. In 2015, Ora joined the European External Action Service – from 2015 to 2018, he was Deputy Head and Chargé d’affaires in the EU Delegation to Kyrgyzstan, from 2018 to 2020, he worked at the Foreign and Defence Policy Department in Brussels, and from 2020 to 2024, he served as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman.
