Today 17 December, Estonian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Jaap Ora presented his credentials to President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
In his speech to ambassadors, President Japarov said he highly valued digital cooperation with Estonia. Estonia has been an active participant in building e-governance in Kyrgyzstan and the cooperation has been hugely beneficial. Kyrgyzstan is interested in its continuation. Ambassador Ora affirmed Estonia’s positive experience and wish to continue active cooperation on digital affairs. There are possibilities for closer cooperation on education, research and culture. There is also great potential on trade between the two countries. Kyrgyzstan is an important partner for Estonia and the European Union in ensuring peace, stability and prosperity. Estonia’s priority is a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Ambassador Ora highlighted the potential for developing tourism between Estonia and Kyrgyzstan. “With its powerful nature and esteemed traditions, Kyrgyzstan is an exciting and fascinating destination for Estonian tourists. Estonia’s attraction include its historical landmarks, seaside location and northern nature,” Ambassador Ora said.
Ora joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000. Between 2000 and 2002 and from 2005 to 2007, he worked as the Second Secretary and Division Director at the Policy Planning Department of the Foreign Ministry. Between 2007 and 2011, he was the Director of the Western Europe and North America Division at the Political Department. From 2002 to 2005, he was a political diplomat at the Estonian Embassy in London, from 2011 to 2014, he was a political adviser at Estonia’s Permanent Representation to NATO and from 2014 to 2015, he was the Head of the Foreign Ministry’s representation in Baku. In 2015, Ora joined the European External Action Service – from 2015 to 2018, he was Deputy Head and Chargé d’affaires in the EU Delegation to Kyrgyzstan, from 2018 to 2020, he worked at the Foreign and Defence Policy Department in Brussels, and from 2020 to 2024, he served as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman.
