Estonia opened the Office of the Honorary Consul in Tajikistan

The Office of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia was officially opened on Friday, 11 June in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

“I am glad we are finally officially opening the Office of the Estonian Honorary Consul in Tajikistan. In fact, Mr Muhammadi Azimov became Estonian Honorary Consul already in June 2020, but COVID has delayed the ceremony” said the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Tajikistan, Heiti Mäemees, at the opening ceremony.

“Priorities of the Honorary Consul are the protection of interests of Estonian citizens, as well as enhancing business and cultural ties between the two countries,” the Ambassador added.

The ceremony was attended by the Tajik Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Muzaffar Huseinzoda, and video greetings were also conveyed by Mr Andres Rundu, Undersecretary of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Muhammadi Azimov was born in 1977. In 2000 he graduated from the Tajik State University with a degree in international law. He currently works at the managerial post in a Tajik construction company. Azimov speaks Tajik, Russian and English.
