ASHGABAT, December 8. New Estonian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Toomas Tirs presented his credentials to the First Lady of the Lower House of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gulshat Myammedova.
“In today’s difficult geopolitical situation, the importance of the Central Asian region continues to grow. Turkmenistan has the world’s fourth largest natural gas reserves, which are of increasing interest to Europe in terms of energy security.
The strategic location of Turkmenistan in the Caspian transport corridor, the country’s interest in digitalization have led to the fact that after the Covid pandemic, more and more companies, including Estonia, are turning their eyes to this country,” the ambassador said at the meeting. “In addition to developing business relations with Turkmenistan, the European Union is also closely following the development of human rights in the country,” the ambassador said.
Toomas Tirs, Estonian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, has joint accreditations in the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
